Go Left Old Man!

I was at the driving range earlier in the month and I was watching a man hitting a hybrid golf club lefthanded. He had a great, fluid swing. It was perfect. It was the first time I really saw someone other than a professional golfer hit lefthanded. When he was done, I complimented him on his swing. He went on to explain to me how he was really a right, but he said he wanted both sides of his body to be golf strong. He said perfect balance can be achieved by learning how to play from both sides. He actually told me that learning how to play lefthanded made him a better player right-handed. He then showed me how he hits from the right side. His swing was just as perfect on the right side as it was on the left hand side.
I looked through my collection of clubs and found a lefthanded putter and a wedge. I went to my local driving range and taught myself how to hit from the left hand side. It was so weird! Everything I know about the golf swing is now backwards. I managed to hit a few decent shots. I felt like a beginner again. The raw feeling I felt when I first played almost thirty years ago came back to me. It felt awkward because I felt like I didn't know what I was doing. That truly was the case since I had no idea what I was doing.
I just hope this makes me a better player!
